Johnny Culver is the author of a
novel, "The Piney Fork Diaries", several full-length plays,
including “Crummy”, “Members Only” and “The House on the Hill”, all of which are available at www.pineyforkpress.com, where video clips from several of his
productions are also featured.
Johnny’s diverse work has been performed locally at
Times Square Playwrights, Village Playwrights and by New York’s Fifth Avenue
Presbyterian Church’s Theater Fellowship. He is also a frequent contributor to
their popular Better than Broadway series, and recently appeared in
their Equity Showcase presentation of ‘’The Man Who Came to Dinner”.
Summer of 2009 brought Johnny’s new works to two
nights at The Creek in Long Island City.
Johnny is a frequent contributor to “Mary Worth
and Me” an online blog.
He
has also studied and appeared with Ralph Buckley’s New York Improvisation
Game Show in the East Village and
in several forgettable ancient Greek comedies at New York University. Johnny has
also performed with the Gingerbread Players of Forest Hills, New York.
Johnny
studied under the direction of playwright Frank Gagliano, West Virginia
University’s Benedum Professor of Theatre, and at New York University.
For the past several years, he has been studying Creative Writing with Emily
Dunlap at Fifth Avenue’s Center for Christian Studies.
He
is no longer a member of the Dramatists Guild, but remains an active member of
the Columbia House Record and Tape Club.
Johnny
resides in Astoria with his two frogs, Janice and Anitra*,
and wacky neighbors.
